Roswell’s Mimms Museum Earns Regional Recognition for Apple Exhibition

Roswell’s Mimms Museum earned regional recognition for its permanent Apple exhibition, showcasing 50 years of the company’s innovations.

Roswell’s Mimms Museum of Technology and Art has received a 2026 Southeastern Museums Conference honorable mention for “iNSPIRE: 50 Years of Innovation from Apple.”

The permanent exhibition, which opened April 1, was recognized in the competition’s category for exhibitions costing more than $1 million. Award recipients were honored September 30 at the conference’s annual meeting in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

iNSPIRE traces Apple’s history through devices including the Apple I, Macintosh, iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad. Rare prototypes and original documents appear alongside immersive installations inspired by the company’s products and advertising.

The regional competition evaluates exhibition design, educational value, innovation and the treatment of objects. Entries are reviewed by museum professionals specializing in curatorial work and exhibition design.

Lonnie Mimms, the museum’s founder and board chairman, said the exhibition brings its technology collection together to tell a story about how innovation, design and creativity shape everyday life.

Formerly known as Computer Museum of America, the nonprofit Mimms Museum opened in 2019 and explores the history of technology and its connections to art.

Keep it. Pass it on.
