Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
High school students will put the questions to Fulton County Commission candidates Bridget Thorne and Maggie Goldman on Monday, October 5, at Rivermont Country Club in Johns Creek.
The District 1 debate runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., following a meet-and-greet at 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Republican Thorne and Democrat Goldman will face questions prepared by Student Leadership NORTH’s Secretary of State Ambassador team. The students have spent months developing questions and coordinating the events, and will serve as moderators and timekeepers, according to the organizers’ announcement.
The team draws students from Alpharetta, Centennial, Chattahoochee, Johns Creek and Northview high schools, along with Innovation Academy. Its work gives local teenagers a role in the election beyond watching candidates campaign: they will guide the discussion and keep the answers on schedule.
Rivermont Country Club is at 3130 Rivermont Parkway in Johns Creek.
