The Atlanta Braves must win Wednesday night at Truist Park to keep their postseason alive.
Los Angeles took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five National League Division Series with a 3-1 victory Tuesday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto held Atlanta to one run and four hits over seven innings while striking out 10.
Enrique Hernández broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer off Chris Sale in the fourth inning. Former Brave Freddie Freeman followed with a solo home run, giving the Dodgers all the offense they needed.
Atlanta loaded the bases in the fifth but managed only one run on a Drake Baldwin groundout. The Braves finished with five hits, struck out 12 times and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Game 4 begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Atlanta will start Tyler Mahle against Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow.
A Braves victory would send the series back to Los Angeles for a decisive Game 5 on Friday. A loss would end Atlanta’s season and move the Dodgers into the National League Championship Series.
