Forsyth Parents Have Until Aug. 18 to Complete New School Forms
Forsyth County parents have until August 18 to complete required annual permission forms in the Parent Portal, including new electronic device rules that affect all students.

The first week of school may be over, but Forsyth County parents still have an important back-to-school assignment.
The district has placed its 2026–27 permission forms in every family’s Parent Portal account and set a deadline of Tuesday, Aug. 18, for completion. All students have four general forms, while additional documents appear according to grade level and class schedule.
Only one parent or guardian needs to complete each form.
Four Forms Appear for Every Student
Every Forsyth County Schools family should find the following documents:

The library form deserves particular attention. Although it appears with the general forms, parents should sign it only if they want the media center to notify them about books their child checks out.
Some Students Have Additional Forms
The portal assigns other documents according to the student’s grade or courses:

| CTAE/Fine Arts safety | Grades 6–12 students taking CTAE or theater |
| Chromebook permission | All sixth-graders and new students in grades 7–12 |
Families with more than one child may therefore see different packets in each student’s account. A ninth-grader taking health and an Audio/Video Technology course, for example, may have more forms than a student whose schedule does not include those subjects.

The Device Form Reflects a Major Change
The distraction-free acknowledgment is more than a routine signature. It introduces the electronic-device rules now in effect across the district.
High school students must keep phones and other personal devices powered off and stored away from the first instructional bell through the end of the school day. Phones are permitted during lunch.
Middle school students must keep devices off and stored away from 9 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. Elementary students must do the same from arrival until departure.
The restriction extends beyond phones to earbuds, headphones, smartwatches, smart glasses and personal computers, unless school administrators approve an exception. Violations can result in a student being placed under an electronic-device contract.
The district incorporated the new rules into its 2026–27 Student Code of Conduct.
What to Do if the Portal Is Inaccessible
Parents who have not created a Parent Portal account receive an activation email at the address held by the school. The activation link remains valid for two days.
Families who never received the email should first check their spam folder, then contact the school to confirm that the correct address is on file. A parent who needs an account created or a password reset may visit the school with photo identification.
With phones now expected to remain out of reach for most of the school day, the permission packet has greater practical significance than the familiar beginning-of-year paperwork. Parents should review each document individually rather than signing the entire group as though every choice were mandatory.
