Forsyth Seeks Employers’ Input on Next Five-Year Career-Training Plan
Forsyth County Schools is hosting a summit to update its workforce strategy, aiming to prepare students for local job demands through stronger partnerships and career programs like internships.

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
Forsyth County Schools is asking employers and residents to help shape its next five-year workforce strategy, with a Monday morning summit focused on preparing students for careers local businesses need to fill.
The Oct. 19 meeting runs from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Participants will help update Workforce Forsyth, the district’s plan connecting career education with employer needs.
The discussion comes as the district moves beyond its 2022–2026 strategy. That plan called for keeping training equipment current, matching course offerings to the local economy and considering a centralized skilled-trades program accessible to students countywide. The trades program was a planning goal, not an announced construction project.
Monday’s agenda centers on in-demand jobs, program quality, stronger partnerships and outreach. The district’s summit details and RSVP link are available through Workforce Forsyth.
For students, the connection between school and work already extends beyond choosing a career-oriented class. Through Internship Forsyth, eligible students can leave campus for placements with local businesses and earn course credit. Placements may be paid or unpaid. Participants must be at least 16, have reliable transportation and take related coursework, among other requirements.
The application deadline for the current 2026–27 school year was Jan. 30, 2026. Families interested in future participation can contact their school’s career development specialist.
Businesses can contribute without waiting for a new plan. The district’s career-development partnerships include hosting interns and job-shadowing visits, advising on curriculum and helping students practice interviews. Employers interested in participating can contact Valery Lowe at vlowe@forsyth.k12.ga.us or 770-887-2461.
