Georgia Milestones Scores Rise, but English Results Will Come Later

Georgia students improved or maintained proficiency on most subjects in the Georgia Milestones tests, especially in math and science. English scores will be released later due to new standards.

Georgia students improved or maintained their performance on nearly every Georgia Milestones assessment released for the 2025–26 school year, with mathematics producing several of the strongest results in the testing program’s history.

The percentage of students reaching the Proficient Learner level or higher increased or remained unchanged on 12 of the 13 available end-of-grade and end-of-course exams. Performance rose or held steady on six of seven mathematics assessments, all four science assessments and both social studies assessments.

Fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade mathematics reached record proficiency levels, as did the high-school Algebra exam. In all, proficiency increased on 10 assessments, remained unchanged on two and declined on one.

The results offer an early statewide measure of academic performance as students return to classrooms across North Fulton, Forsyth and Gwinnett counties. Families can use the Georgia Milestones dashboard to compare results by school, district, grade and subject.

English Scores Remain Unfinished

English-language-arts results were not included in the release. Georgia introduced new ELA standards during the past school year, requiring the state to establish updated performance levels before calculating final scores. Those results are expected in late fall.

That delay means the current picture is encouraging but incomplete, particularly for families and educators watching reading performance in the elementary grades.

Individual Forsyth County student reports are already available through the district’s Parent Portal under the Assessments section. The reports identify whether a student performed at the Beginning, Developing, Proficient or Distinguished level and can help families understand where additional support may be useful.
