Job description
The Associate HMI Design Engineer develops and tests human-machine-interface software for generator-control switchgear at Caterpillar’s Alpharetta operation. Duties include adapting template HMI programs to project-specific PLC logic, converting older applications, configuring industrial computers, documenting test results and supporting production, field service, help-desk and aftermarket teams. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology. The position also calls for working knowledge of HMI platforms such as FactoryTalk, RSView, Vijeo, Crimson, Kepware, Applicom or Wonderware. Familiarity with graphic-design tools and programming languages including JavaScript, HTML, C++, SQL or VBA is desirable. The job requires five onsite days each week, and weekend scheduling may be needed. Caterpillar lists a salary range of $81,370.00 – $122,060.00 plus benefits that may include health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), bonus eligibility and tuition reimbursement.
