Job description
Caterpillar’s Electrical Design Engineer – Electric Power designs low- and medium-voltage switchgear for generator-paralleling applications in Alpharetta. The engineer interprets customer specifications and electrical standards, creates bills of materials, directs purchasing and CAD work, supports production and writes and validates PLC code for generator-control systems. An associate degree in engineering, engineering technology or a related program is required. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, experience with Schneider or Allen-Bradley PLCs, UL508A enclosure design, power engineering and multi-function relay programming. The position is onsite five days a week and may require up to 10% travel. Caterpillar lists a salary range of $97,530.00 – $146,290.00 and offers relocation assistance.
