Labor Day weekend brings four days of choices across North Atlanta, from a three-night rodeo in Cumming and the final performances of “On Golden Pond” in Sugar Hill to Hayley Williams in Alpharetta, comedy in Roswell and Duluth, and a free family movie in Peachtree Corners.
Several events are outdoors and may change if storms move through the area. Check the organizer’s page before leaving.
Friday, Sept. 4
Lakewood 400 Antiques Market
The Lakewood 400 Antiques Market returns to 1321 Atlanta Highway in Cumming with furniture, jewelry, collectibles, artwork, vintage clothing and home décor. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 cash, children under 12 enter free, and one ticket is valid throughout the weekend.
Sugar Hill Community Night with the Gwinnett Stripers
Sugar Hill’s rescheduled Community Night with the Gwinnett Stripers begins at 7:05 p.m. at Gwinnett Field. The Stripers face the Charlotte Knights, with the usual Friday crackers scheduled after the game, weather permitting.
“On Golden Pond” at the Eagle Theatre
Players Guild at Sugar Hill closes its run of “On Golden Pond” this weekend. The warm, sharply funny family drama follows an aging couple whose familiar summer at their Maine cabin becomes more complicated when their daughter arrives. Performances begin at 8 p.m. Friday, 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Eagle Theatre, 5029 West Broad St.
IPRA World Championship Rodeo
Bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling and saddle bronc riding return to the covered arena at the Cumming Fairgrounds for the annual IPRA World Championship Rodeo. Performances begin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. Gates open two hours before each show.
Stand-Up Comedy at Red Clay
Comedian Yoshee hosts Stand-Up Comedy at the Clay at Eddie Owen Presents in downtown Duluth. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8. General admission is $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the show, before ticketing fees.
Saturday, Sept. 5
Free Yoga in Johns Creek
The Boardwalk at Johns Creek Town Center hosts a free outdoor yoga class led by Life Time beginning at 8:30 a.m. The class is held at 11362 Lakefield Drive; bring a mat and water.
Alpharetta Farmers Market
The Alpharetta Farmers Market fills the Town Green from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with seasonal produce, meat, baked goods, flowers and locally made foods. The market is centered around 2 Park Plaza in downtown Alpharetta.
Suwanee Farmers Market
The Suwanee Farmers Market runs from 8 a.m. to noon at Town Center on Main. The market concentrates on farmers and food producers, making it a straightforward Saturday-morning stop for produce, breads, meats and other locally made goods.
Sugar Hill Art Market
Local artists and craft vendors take over the Promenade for the Sugar Hill Art Market from 5 to 10 p.m. Shoppers can browse artwork, handmade goods and gifts while spending the evening in downtown Sugar Hill.
Hayley Williams at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre
Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore, brings The Hayley Williams Show to Ameris Bank Amphitheatre at 7 p.m. Magdalena Bay and Rico Nasty are also on the bill for the ticketed concert at 2200 Encore Parkway in Alpharetta.
Home By Dark at Union Hill Park
Singer-songwriters Abbie Gardner and Ernie Halter join the Home By Dark concert series from 8 to 10 p.m. at Union Hill Park, 1590 Little Pine Trail in Alpharetta. The covered-pavilion performance offers reserved table seating and requires an admission ticket.
“The Mighty Ducks” on the Peachtree Corners Town Green
Peachtree Corners’ free Flicks on the Green series returns at 7 p.m. with the 1992 family sports comedy “The Mighty Ducks.” Bring chairs or blankets to the Town Green at 5140 Town Center Blvd. Admission is free.
Improv Maniacs in Roswell
Atlanta Workshop Players’ resident troupe presents a clean, unscripted night of comedy at Improv at Studio 13. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at 1580 Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell. Tickets are $15.
Sunday, Sept. 6
Duluth Farmers & Artisan Market
The Duluth Farmers & Artisan Market opens from 2 to 5 p.m. on the Duluth Town Green. The afternoon market combines produce and locally made foods with art, crafts and other goods from area vendors.
Slide Into Sundays in Cumming
Cumming City Center becomes a children’s play zone during Slide Into Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The weather-dependent event includes bounce houses, water slides, games and activities. Unlimited participation costs $10, and a signed waiver and wristband are required.
Labor Day “Pig Out” at Avalon
Oak and Colletta will serve whole-hog barbecue, ribs, smoked salmon, turkey, chicken, Southern sides and desserts during Avalon’s 10th annual Labor Day “Pig Out”. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at Palmer Plaza and includes live music, with proceeds supporting the Giving Kitchen. Advance admission is $50 for adults and $25 for children ages 6 to 12; day-of prices rise to $55 and $30.
Monday, Sept. 7
Labor Day Donut Dash
The holiday begins early at Cumming City Center with the Labor Day Donut Dash. The chip-timed 5K starts at 8 a.m., followed by a 1K Munchkin Run for children 10 and younger at 9 a.m. Registration is $40 for the 5K and $25 for the children’s run, with a medal, shirt and finish-line doughnut included.
