Thanksgiving Food Drive Opens Oct. 23 With Drop-Offs Across North Atlanta
David Weekley Homes begins a Thanksgiving food drive Oct. 23 in North Atlanta communities. The event supports Status: Home, helping families affected by HIV/AIDS and homelessness.

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
Residents can drop off food for Thanksgiving meals at David Weekley Homes locations in Cumming, Canton, Woodstock and Roswell beginning Friday, Oct. 23.
The builder’s annual Giving Thanks, Giving Back drive runs through Nov. 13 and will benefit Status: Home, an Atlanta nonprofit that provides housing for people and families affected by HIV/AIDS who are experiencing homelessness or have low incomes.
Shelf-stable food will be collected throughout the drive. Frozen turkeys have a separate drop-off window: Friday, Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the company’s Roswell office only.
What to donate
Organizers are asking for soups, canned vegetables and fruit, canned tuna or chicken, granola bars, rice and pasta.
Atlanta Division President Adam Cornett said last year’s drive collected 4,992 nonperishable food items and 298 frozen turkeys for the Clayton County Community Services Authority. This year’s donations will go to Status: Home.
