The evening will include traditional dances from Latin American countries and an introductory salsa lesson, alongside opportunities to meet neighbors and practice both languages.

Food will be catered by Yuli’s Bakery LLC. The business’s owner graduated from the association’s Avanzando Juntas program, which helps women develop the skills to launch and run a small business.

“Our Coffee Hour will give participants an opportunity to practice English and Spanish while meeting and connecting with others,” said Santiago Marquez, CEO of the Latin American Association.

Brookhaven Council Member Michael Diaz, who was born in Colombia and is the city’s first Latino elected official, said the gathering offers residents a chance to share traditions and strengthen community connections.

The event takes place one day before National Hispanic Heritage Month ends on Oct. 15.
