Whiplash Comedy Opens Oct. 12 at Ponce City Market
Whiplash Comedy, founded by Marshall Chiles, is opening at Ponce City Market with two showrooms and a full bar. It adds a fresh nightlife option for North Atlanta audiences.

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
Marshall Chiles, the founder of Laughing Skull Lounge, is opening a new comedy club at Ponce City Market on Monday, Oct. 12.
Whiplash Comedy will have two showrooms, a full bar and an outdoor patio at the corner of Glen Iris Drive and North Avenue. For North Atlanta residents planning an evening in the city, it adds a stop for stand-up alongside the market’s restaurants and shops.
The main room, Main Squeeze, seats about 130 people, with small tables near the stage, booths, high-top tables and bleacher seating. Touring headliners will share the calendar with Heavy Hitters of Atlanta Comedy, a showcase featuring about 10 comedians, each performing an eight-minute set.

Chiles envisions the room as “a 1920s jazz club at Ponce City Market, but make it stand-up comedy.”
A smaller, 40-seat room called Side Piece will host more intimate performances. Plans include close-up magic, podcasts, comedy showcases, late-night jazz and social events. Comedy classes and weekend comedy brunches are also in the works.
Guests can order flatbreads, pretzel bites and desserts before shows, or sit outside on the 3,100-square-foot patio, Third Wheel. The bar will serve cocktails, wine, beer and nonalcoholic drinks, with coffee also available.
Chiles has spent more than two decades in Atlanta comedy. He began performing stand-up in 2000, bought Funny Farm Comedy Club in 2002 and opened Laughing Skull Lounge in 2009. He also launched the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in 2010. The festival will return in 2027 as the Whiplash Comedy Festival.
The club’s posted schedule includes a 7 p.m. show Sunday through Thursday, four shows on Fridays and five on Saturdays, with late-night performances on both weekend nights.
Whiplash Comedy is at 650 North Ave., Suite 201, in Atlanta. The show calendar has tickets and details for individual performances.
