North Atlanta Weekend Guide: 15 Things to Do, Oct. 9–11

From a book festival in Canton to collector cars in Roswell and live music across several towns, North Atlanta offers 15 events to enjoy this weekend. Family activities, markets, and cultural celebrations round out the options.

A book festival in Canton, collector cars in Roswell and a night of Garba and Dandiya in Suwanee give this weekend plenty of variety. Music fans can follow songwriters through downtown Alpharetta, hear ’80s favorites in Cumming or catch a Bon Jovi tribute in Dunwoody.

There are also smaller outings to fit between the bigger plans: a farmers market, an outdoor movie, an evening art market and a walk through Woodstock’s scarecrow displays. Here are 15 ideas for Friday through Sunday, Oct. 9–11.

Follow the music in downtown Alpharetta

Wire & Wood fills downtown Alpharetta with free outdoor performances Friday and Saturday. Friday’s music starts at 6 p.m., with Corey Smith taking the Main on Milton stage at 9:15 p.m. Saturday begins at noon, and Sister Hazel closes that stage with a 9:15 p.m. set.

Leave time to wander between stages and stop for dinner. Saturday’s separate Listening Room show at Roaring Social features David Lowery, Angie Aparo and David Ryan Harris at 3 p.m. and requires a ticket. Check the festival’s parking and road-closure guide before driving downtown.

Hear ’80s favorites at Cumming City Center

NÜ Wave ATL brings its ’80s new wave tribute to the Lou Sobh Amphitheater on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The show draws on the synth sounds and alternative hits of the MTV era.

Admission and parking are free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Cumming City Center, 423 Canton Road. Outside food, coolers and alcohol are prohibited, so plan to get refreshments there.

Watch Scooby-Doo under the stars in Dunwoody

Ashford Lane’s Movies Under the Stars brings Scooby-Doo to the lawn Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Bring a blanket and make it an outdoor movie night, with dinner or takeout from one of the nearby restaurants. Ashford Lane is at 4500 Olde Perimeter Way in Dunwoody. Families can return the following afternoon for the development’s fall festival.

Start Saturday at the Sandy Springs farmers market

The Sandy Springs Farmers Market opens Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at City Springs. Browse produce, artisan foods and prepared specialties before the afternoon events begin.

The market operates rain or shine. Dogs must stay leashed in the plaza and sidewalk areas; pets are not permitted on the City Green. Bring a shopping bag if you plan to stock up for the week.

See collector cars in Roswell

The Roswell Motoring Festival runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall, 38 Hill Street. Admission is free.

Collector and exotic cars share the display with motorcycles and boats, giving visitors plenty to examine up close. Automotive and art vendors, face painting and a photo booth add reasons to bring the family. You can spend an hour browsing or make it the main stop of your Saturday.

Browse books and handmade goods in Canton

The Mill on Etowah has two reasons to visit Saturday. The Makers Market runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the Shoppes at The Mill, with local makers and craft shopping.

Then Books & Boos, hosted by Damsel Bookstore, runs from 2 to 7 p.m. Expect authors, book-themed vendors, fall games, face painting, trick-or-treating and a best-pie contest. Both events are at The Mill, 225 Reformation Parkway, so the overlapping hours make an afternoon of browsing easy to arrange.

Paint pumpkins at Ashford Lane

Ashford Lane’s Second Saturdays fall festival runs Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at 4500 Olde Perimeter Way in Dunwoody.

The free event includes pumpkin painting, carnival games, a DJ and fall performances. It offers a late-afternoon family outing without committing the whole day. Come for the activities, then stay nearby for dinner.

Shop the evening art market in Sugar Hill

The Sugar Hill Art Market runs Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. on The Promenade, 5039 West Broad Street.

Local artists and craft vendors will have handmade goods, original artwork and gifts. The evening hours leave room for a downtown meal before or after browsing. It’s also a chance to get an early start on gift shopping and meet the people making what you buy.

Catch a Bon Jovi tribute in Dunwoody

Dunwoody closes its Groovin’ on the Green season Saturday with Slippery When Wet, a Bon Jovi tribute band. The free, all-ages concert begins at 6 p.m. at the Brook Run Park Amphitheater, 4770 North Peachtree Road.

Bring a lawn chair and pack a picnic or cooler. Food trucks are also part of the evening. For families choosing between an early festival and a concert, Ashford Lane’s activities begin two hours before the music at Brook Run.

Dance at Suwanee’s Navaratri Mela

Chinmaya Gurukul’s Navaratri Mela runs Saturday from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at North Gwinnett High School, 20 Level Creek Road in Suwanee.

The celebration includes Garba, Dandiya and line dancing, along with food, henna, face painting and vendors selling ethnic clothing and jewelry. A live Golu features children dressed as deities. Tickets are $15 for ages above 10 and $10 for children ages 5–10. Check the registration page for availability before heading over.

Spend Saturday evening with Michael Carbonaro

Michael Carbonaro brings Wonderboy to the Byers Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The star of The Carbonaro Effect combines magic, comedy, improvisation and audience participation. Listed ticket prices range from $51.75 to $181; VIP tickets include a post-show meet-and-greet. The theater is at 1 Galambos Way. Check available seats before making dinner plans around the show.

Run for a cause in Peachtree Corners

The Camilo Duran 5K returns Sunday to Pinckneyville Park, 4758 South Old Peachtree Road in Peachtree Corners.

The event supports people facing cancer and cancer survivors. Race-day registration opens at 7:45 a.m., with the race scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Register through the event page and check the current entry rates and instructions before race morning.

Spend Sunday afternoon at Halcyon

Fall Sunday Music at Halcyon runs Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. on the Village Green, 6365 Halcyon Way in South Forsyth.

Have lunch or brunch nearby, then settle in for the afternoon’s live music. Halcyon posts the weekly performer on its social channels. This is a useful option if your Sunday plans call for a meal and some time outside without a packed schedule.

Try the Sandy Springs Wine Festival

The Sandy Springs Wine Festival returns Sunday to City Green at City Springs, 1 Galambos Way. General tasting runs from 3 to 5 p.m. Reserve tasting starts at 2 p.m. and continues until 3:15 p.m., with reserve tickets also including general admission.

General tasting includes more than 175 wines, light food from local restaurants and live music. The tented festival runs rain or shine. Tickets are required, and guests must be 21 or older with valid ID. Pets and strollers are not permitted.

Find Woodstock’s scarecrows all weekend

Downtown Woodstock’s Scarecrow Invasion continues throughout October, with displays created by local businesses, nonprofits and residents.

Download the 2026 location map and free scavenger-hunt clue sheet, then walk downtown looking for the characters. Visitors can vote for their favorites, too. With no single showtime to work around, this is an easy outing to fit before lunch, after another event or whenever the family has a little time to explore.

Check the linked event pages before heading out for weather changes, ticket availability and last-minute updates. All times are local.

Keep it. Pass it on.
