New Dining, Live Music and Small Shops Planned for Downtown Alpharetta
A new Alpharetta development will feature restaurants, small retail spaces, and a live music venue along Roswell Street, with residential units planned later. This project enhances downtown's mixed-use character and walkability.

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
A new collection of restaurants, shops and entertainment spaces is taking shape along Roswell Street in downtown Alpharetta, with the first businesses expected to open in late 2027.
Alpharetta District Places will bring approximately 34,000 square feet of commercial space to the stretch between Marietta Street and Old Milton Parkway. The project is being developed by McKibbon Places and Market District Development, which broke ground June 30.
Unlike a conventional shopping center, the development is designed around smaller storefronts, restaurants and public gathering areas within walking distance of downtown Alpharetta's existing businesses.
One of its more unusual features is a proposed live music venue with seating for approximately 300 to 350 people. The venue would include a restaurant on the ground floor, adding another option for evening entertainment in the downtown district.
The project also includes a building with small retail spaces measuring approximately 400 to 500 square feet. Those storefronts are intended to make it easier for emerging businesses to establish a downtown presence without committing to a much larger commercial space.
That could create opportunities for independent retailers and entrepreneurs who might otherwise find downtown rents and space requirements difficult to manage.
A New Connection to the Alpha Loop
The development occupies approximately 2.4 acres near a recently completed section of the Alpha Loop, Alpharetta's expanding network of walking and cycling paths.
The trail runs across Roswell Street from the property, providing a connection to nearby restaurants, shops and other parts of downtown.
Plans also include a public green space with mature trees and trails. The developers hope to use the area for outdoor gatherings and community events, including live music.
The combination of small shops, restaurants, entertainment and pedestrian connections is intended to encourage visitors to explore more of downtown rather than remain within a single shopping destination.
More Housing Could Follow
The first phase concentrates on restaurants, retail and entertainment. A second phase is planned to add approximately 195 multifamily residential units.
The residential component would bring additional households within walking distance of the new businesses and the existing downtown commercial district.
For nearby merchants, the project could also expand the customer base by drawing visitors to a section of Roswell Street that sits just outside the busiest blocks around the Town Green.
The development team expects initial construction to finish during summer 2027, followed by tenant buildouts. Businesses could begin opening in late fall 2027.
Specific restaurants and retailers have not yet been announced.
The project adds to downtown Alpharetta's continuing transformation from a traditional historic commercial center into a larger district combining housing, dining, entertainment and public spaces.
Further details about the development are available through Connected Alpharetta's project announcement.
