Lockheed Martin Plans 2,000 Texas Jobs and $300 Million Grand Prairie Expansion

Lockheed Martin will invest $300 million to expand its Grand Prairie facility, adding manufacturing space and 2,000 new jobs statewide. Automated production with Hadrian will start in 2027.

Lockheed Martin plans to add 2,000 jobs across Texas as it invests $300 million in its Grand Prairie manufacturing operation, part of a national expansion announced Oct. 14.

The Texas positions are among 6,000 planned U.S. jobs. The company did not provide a hiring timetable or specify how many of the Texas jobs would be based in Grand Prairie.

The Grand Prairie project includes 100,000 square feet of new space and the conversion of 85,000 square feet of offices into manufacturing areas. Together, the changes will bring the site’s manufacturing footprint to more than 735,000 square feet.

Automated Manufacturing Coming in 2027

A partnership with manufacturing company Hadrian will bring additional machining capacity directly inside the Grand Prairie operation. Lockheed employees will operate a 24-machine automated production cell expected to begin running in early 2027.

In its separate announcement, Hadrian said manufacturing cells will be introduced over a seven-year agreement, with each supporting multiple missile programs.

The arrangement combines Hadrian’s automation, Opus manufacturing software and workforce training with Lockheed’s production operations. It also gives Lockheed access to Hadrian’s broader factory network, allowing production to shift between facilities as demand changes.

Hadrian says bringing machining inside the plant is intended to strengthen the supply chain while increasing manufacturing capacity. The company also operates factories in California, Arizona and Alabama.

Connections Across the Sun Belt

Grand Prairie produces components for final assembly at other Lockheed facilities, including Camden, Arkansas, and Troy, Alabama.

The investment forms part of Lockheed’s plan to spend $8 billion to $9 billion through 2030 on expanding munitions production and modernizing more than 20 U.S. facilities.

For job seekers, Lockheed’s Texas careers page provides links to openings in Grand Prairie, Fort Worth and Lufkin. The company describes its Grand Prairie workforce as including engineers, technicians and manufacturing specialists. Applicants can search available positions by location and job title.
