Former Peachtree Corners Motel Becomes 73 Affordable Apartments

The former Spring Swallow Lodge in Peachtree Corners is now Crest Pointe Village, offering 73 affordable apartments for seniors and young adults. Residents begin moving in November.

A former extended-stay motel on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Peachtree Corners has been converted into 73 affordable apartments for seniors and young adults facing housing instability. Residents are expected to begin moving into Crest Pointe Village in November.

The $15 million redevelopment of the former Spring Swallow Lodge will serve adults 62 and older and young adults ages 18 to 24, including those leaving foster care. The apartments include studios and one-bedroom units, WSB-TV reported.

Gwinnett Housing Corporation will hold a ribbon-cutting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7065 Jimmy Carter Blvd., followed by property tours. Karen Ramsey, the nonprofit’s chief executive officer, confirmed the ceremony date in an earlier email to North Atlanta Star.

Permanent homes in a former motel

The housing corporation describes Crest Pointe Village as Gwinnett County’s first hotel conversion into permanent affordable housing. The apartments have full kitchens, and OneStreet Residential will manage the property. Hope, Thrive, Support will provide assistance with residents’ educational, employment and personal goals, the North Gwinnett Voice reported.

Gwinnett County supplied nearly half the development cost. The Georgia Power Foundation contributed $25,000, one of several grants and other funding sources supporting the conversion.

North Atlanta Star has asked the housing corporation for rent levels, income requirements, the application or referral process, and how the apartments will be divided between seniors and young adults. Those details have not yet been provided to the newspaper.
