Jones Bridge Road Widening Delayed Until Spring 2027

The Jones Bridge Road widening project in Johns Creek has been delayed until spring 2027. Utility relocations and final construction work are pushing the completion beyond the original fall timeline.

Drivers waiting for construction to finish on Jones Bridge Road between Douglas and Sargent roads will have to wait until spring 2027, Johns Creek officials said Friday.

The project had been expected to finish this fall. In an Oct. 16 update, the city attributed the revised schedule to utility relocation delays that have held up the remaining roadwork.

The widening project will create a four-lane divided section with medians and turn lanes, along with improvements at the Douglas Road intersection.

Utility work must finish first

Comcast completed its relocation work in early October, and Charter is now finishing its portion, according to the city. AT&T will follow as the last utility relocation needed before existing poles can be removed.

All utility relocations are scheduled to conclude by the end of the year. That will clear the way for crews to complete several remaining parts of the project.

Those include storm drain installation south of Sargent Road; curbs, gutters and sidewalks on the east side of Jones Bridge Road; installation and activation of traffic signals; and asphalt paving and striping.

The city said the spring 2027 target accounts for the work needed to safely open the road in its final configuration. Its update did not give a specific completion date.

Keep it. Pass it on.
