Norcross cleanup day offers recycling, shredding and bulk disposal Oct. 10

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
Norcross residents can drop off unwanted electronics, bulky items and documents for shredding during the city’s Neighborhood Cleanup & Recycling Day on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at Norcross Public Works, 345 Lively Avenue. Proof of residency is required.
What to bring
Accepted materials include electronics, scrap metal, glass, single-stream recycling and items for bulk disposal. A1 Shredding & Recycling will provide secure document shredding, limited to five boxes per resident.
The city will also collect gently used medical equipment and several harder-to-recycle items: natural wine corks, eyeglasses, hearing aids, sneakers, clean grocery bags, plastic plant pots, and clean towels and blankets.
Residents recycling cell phones should remove their personal information before dropping them off.
What to leave at home
Batteries, large car parts, motors, tires, oil, antifreeze, concrete and household chemicals will not be accepted. All disposal items must be a reasonable size and environmentally safe to handle.
Check the city’s complete list of accepted materials before loading your vehicle.
Volunteers are also needed to help with the event. To sign up, contact Jalia Killings. jalia.killings@norcrossga.net
