Gwinnett Schools Bring Bus Driver Recruiting to Suwanee and Peachtree Corners
Gwinnett County Public Schools will recruit bus drivers and monitors at festivals in Peachtree Corners and Suwanee. Jobs offer good pay, benefits, and school-calendar schedules.

Gwinnett County Public Schools will recruit bus drivers and bus monitors at two North Atlanta festivals next weekend, offering residents a chance to discuss the jobs before applying.
Recruiters will attend the Peachtree Corners Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20, at 5200 Town Center Blvd.
The district will also recruit at Suwanee Fest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at 330 Town Center Ave. The appearances are part of a larger series of transportation hiring events.
Bus drivers start at $22.44 an hour. The district’s 2026-27 salary schedule reaches $31.40 an hour based on the employee’s placement on the pay scale.
Bus monitors, who assist special-education students and do not need a commercial driver’s license, earn between $17.14 and $22.12 an hour.
Most drivers work six to eight hours a day, with a midday break typically running from about 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The schedule follows the school calendar, including summers and major holidays off. Additional income may be available through field trips and other assignments, but weekend work is optional.
New drivers receive paid commercial driver’s license training. The district values the classroom, driving-range and road training at more than $2,100 and conducts CDL testing through its own certified examiners.
Health, dental, vision, life-insurance and retirement benefits are available to eligible employees. GCPS does not participate in Social Security for these positions; employees instead participate in the Gwinnett Retirement System and the Public School Employees Retirement System.
Applicants for driver positions must be at least 21 and have a good driving record. A completed application must include work history and a reference form from a previous supervisor. Qualified applicants are contacted for interviews.
The district transports more than 133,000 students daily, making transportation one of its largest operational needs. The jobs may appeal to parents seeking school-calendar hours, retirees looking for structured part-time work and career changers who need employer-paid training.
Applications are accepted through the district’s official employment portal. Virtual recruiting sessions are also scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 15, 22 and 29.
