The Bodyhood Brings Shared Workspace for Independent Therapists to Sandy Springs

A new shared workspace for massage therapists and wellness professionals has opened in Sandy Springs. The Bodyhood provides furnished treatment rooms for rent by the hour or day, helping practitioners avoid full office leases while sharing a collaborative environment.

Independent massage therapists and other wellness professionals have a new option in Sandy Springs for running a practice without maintaining an entire office.

The Bodyhood soft-opened its second metro Atlanta location in early September and began recruiting practitioners in October. It offers furnished treatment rooms rented by the hour or day, with a minimum monthly usage requirement.

Founder Scott Oglesbay developed the business from his experience running an independent practice. The original Bodyhood location in Decatur now serves more than 14 therapists.

Rooms start at $22 an hour

The Sandy Springs space is designed primarily for massage therapists, while also welcoming practitioners such as acupuncturists and chiropractors.

Rooms start at $22 an hour. A daily rental costs $100 for five hours or more. Practitioners must use at least $50 worth of space each month and pay a $100 application fee.

The arrangement lets practitioners book space around their appointments without immediately committing to a conventional office lease.

Oglesbay’s own practice, Star Dynamic Wellness, has operated in Sandy Springs for six years. Opening a second Bodyhood location brought the shared-space model to the community where he already worked.

“The main reason I wanted to open a Bodyhood location in Sandy Springs was to create an option that makes it easier for independent therapists to establish themselves professionally without having to take on the financial and administrative burden of building an entire practice space on their own,” Oglesbay told North Atlanta Star.

Independent practices in a shared setting

The Bodyhood also gives practitioners opportunities to work alongside others while retaining their own businesses.

Therapists sharing the space can refer clients to one another, discuss their work and develop professional relationships. For practitioners accustomed to working alone, that offers regular contact with colleagues without joining a group practice.

The Sandy Springs location is still recruiting members. The more than 14 therapists Oglesbay cited are based at the established Decatur location.

Ribbon cutting set for Oct. 26

The Sandy Springs location will hold its ribbon cutting Oct. 26. The event is free and open to the public, including people who are not chamber members.

Visitors can tour the treatment rooms and meet members of The Bodyhood community. For practitioners considering the space, it is an opportunity to see the facilities and ask about room availability, rental terms and whether the setup suits their work.

Keep it. Pass it on.
