Sparkle Sandy Springs Brings Parade and Holiday Lights December 6

The December 6 celebration at City Springs includes a holiday market, live music, a 6 p.m. parade and the lighting of the tree and menorah.

Sparkle Sandy Springs returns to City Springs on Sunday, December 6, with a nighttime parade, a holiday market and the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree and menorah.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. around City Green. Families can browse gifts and seasonal treats, visit the miniature houses in Hillcrest Sparkle Village and walk through Sparkle Wonderland along Mount Vernon Highway, where falling snow, a train ride and giant holiday inflatables are part of the afternoon.

The Ansley Stewart Band begins playing holiday music at 4:30 p.m. Visitors can vote for their favorite decorated village house until 5 p.m.

The parade steps off at 6 p.m. at Mount Vernon Highway and Lake Forrest Drive, travels through City Springs and ends at Sandy Springs Circle. The tree and menorah lighting follows at 6:50 p.m., with Mayor Rusty Paul leading the countdown.

Families can also build in time for Skate City Springs. The rink will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. that day, with skating slots available on a first-come, first-served basis and a final session at 7:30 p.m.

Sparkle Wonderland closes at 7 p.m., and the food and gift market closes at 7:30 p.m. The city’s Sparkle Sandy Springs event guide includes parking, shuttle and road-closure information.

Keep it. Pass it on.
