Italian machinery maker FICEP celebrated the grand opening of its U.S. headquarters in south Forsyth County on Nov. 4, bringing a steel-fabrication technology business to Ecopark Drive.
The headquarters is at 5525 Ecopark Drive, with an Alpharetta mailing address. Forsyth County News reported the ribbon-cutting Wednesday.
FICEP makes automated equipment used to cut, drill and assemble structural steel and plate. Its customers use those machines to prepare steel components for construction.
FICEP designed the nearly 20-acre campus for assembly, testing, customer demonstrations and training. Its first phase includes about 60,000 square feet of warehouse, showroom and two-story office space.
The November celebration follows an earlier preview. FICEP hosted customers and industry partners at the headquarters on April 22 during the NASCC steel conference in Atlanta.
The company plans to demonstrate equipment including robotic welding systems and machinery that combines laser cutting with drilling and milling. It has also described eventual local production as a goal for the U.S. operation.
Developer Foundry Commercial said FICEP chose Forsyth County after a national search, citing technical and trade workers, software expertise, transportation connections and proximity to customers.
