Caterpillar is recruiting engineers in Alpharetta to work on generator-control equipment, with two full-time openings offering annual salary ranges beginning above $81,000. Applications for both positions close Monday, Oct. 5.
The work supports Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division, which supplies power systems for hospitals, data centers, municipalities and other customers. Both jobs require five days a week on site in Alpharetta.
The Electrical Design Engineer – Electric Power opening pays $97,530 to $146,290. Responsibilities include designing electrical switchgear, supporting manufacturing and writing control software that allows generators to operate together.
An associate degree in engineering, engineering technology or a related program meets the stated education requirement, although the role also calls for substantial technical and product-design knowledge. A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and experience with industrial controllers are preferred. Domestic relocation assistance is available, and travel may reach 10%.
The Associate HMI Design Engineer opening pays $81,370 to $122,060. HMI stands for human-machine interface: the screens and software operators use to monitor and control equipment.
That engineer will develop and test generator-control interfaces, update older software and help troubleshoot installations. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology, along with working knowledge of industrial interface software. Weekend scheduling may be required, and relocation assistance is unavailable.
For North Atlanta applicants with electrical or industrial-software skills, the openings offer two distinct routes into the same operation. The electrical-design role accepts an associate degree but emphasizes deeper design experience; the interface role requires a bachelor’s degree and specialized software knowledge.
Neither position offers visa sponsorship. Benefits, subject to eligibility, include health coverage, paid time off, a 401(k) plan and tuition reimbursement. Actual compensation depends on qualifications and experience. Both positions were posted Sept. 21, and applications are available through the Apply Now buttons on the linked job pages.
