UCB plans $2 billion Rowen plant, promising 330 Gwinnett jobs
UCB is investing $2 billion to build its first U.S. biologics manufacturing facility at Rowen in Gwinnett County, promising 330 future jobs requiring technical expertise. The project strengthens the region’s life sciences industry but hiring details are not yet available.

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
UCB plans to build its first U.S. manufacturing facility at Rowen in eastern Gwinnett County, a $2 billion project expected to create 330 jobs.
The Belgium-based biopharmaceutical company announced the project with the State of Georgia this week. The facility will make biologic medicines, a category that typically requires highly specialized production, quality-control, engineering and laboratory work.
The project is a significant long-term employment commitment, but it is not an immediate 330-job hiring drive. UCB has not announced a construction schedule, opening date, job titles, pay ranges or application deadlines.
That distinction matters for North Atlanta workers. The eventual jobs could be attractive to people with experience in biomanufacturing, pharmaceutical quality systems, engineering, maintenance, supply chain and laboratory operations. But applicants should not assume those positions are open yet.
Rowen is a research-and-innovation development in eastern Gwinnett, near the Highway 316 corridor. Its location gives the project a connection to Gwinnett’s existing workforce while placing it within reach of workers in Suwanee, Sugar Hill, Duluth and South Forsyth.
Georgia’s announcement of the UCB project describes the investment as the company’s first U.S. manufacturing operation. The scale is notable: a $2 billion plant supporting 330 jobs reflects the capital-intensive nature of modern biologics manufacturing, where clean rooms, automation and complex equipment account for much of a project’s cost.
For the regional economy, the facility could also create work beyond UCB’s direct payroll through construction, equipment suppliers, transportation and specialized business services. Those effects will depend on the project’s timeline and contracting decisions.
The more immediate value is strategic. Gwinnett has attracted major logistics, technology and manufacturing employers, but a large biologics plant would add a different kind of career path—one where technical certificates, science degrees and regulated-production experience can carry increasing value.
Workers interested in future opportunities can monitor UCB’s careers page and Rowen’s development updates. Until UCB releases specific postings, the 330 jobs should be understood as a planned workforce target, not positions currently available.
