Cherokee Career Expo Offers Early Entry for Job Seekers Who Prepare This Week
Job seekers in Canton and Woodstock can explore local opportunities at the Cherokee Career Expo on October 14, including fire services and manufacturing. Prep sessions on October 7 help candidates get ready for early expo entry.

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
Canton and Woodstock residents looking for work closer to home can meet local employers at the Cherokee Career Expo on Oct. 14, with free preparation sessions this Wednesday offering an extra half-hour with recruiters.
The expo runs from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center, 1130 Bluffs Parkway in Canton. Participating businesses must have a Cherokee County location, giving the event a specific focus on local employment.
The lineup includes entry-level firefighting positions with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services; bus driving, clerical, school nutrition and substitute teaching roles with Cherokee County Schools; and municipal openings in Woodstock. Manufacturing opportunities include technicians, production and engineering at Becker Robotic, entry-level millwork at CBBE, and production and maintenance work at Dumaplast.
Applicants can prepare at the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce’s Work Ready sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 7, offered at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Participants receive a “Golden Ticket” allowing entry to the expo at 1:30 p.m., before general admission begins.
To request a preparation session, select “Yes” for the work-readiness event when completing the job-seeker registration form. Organizers will follow up with registration details. Free résumé and mock-interview assistance will also begin at 1 p.m. on expo day.
Job-seeker registration remains open through the end of the expo, and attendees can register at the door. Employers have an earlier deadline: Monday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m.
Applicants should bring résumé copies and be ready to discuss their experience and availability. Dedicated interview space will be available, although an interview or offer is not guaranteed. Pay, schedules and qualifications vary by position; candidates seeking a shorter commute should also confirm the exact worksite before proceeding.
