DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County voters have approved another five years of a one-cent sales tax for school construction and improvements, a renewal projected to generate more than $925 million through 2032.
About 81% voted in favor, according to WSB Radio’s November 5 report. Because the measure renews an existing tax, the sales-tax rate will not rise as a result of the vote.
The money will support schools in DeKalb County, Decatur and parts of Atlanta. Proposed uses include renovations, new buildings and improvements to technology and security.
One major project is the modernization of Druid Hills High School. Other possibilities include expanding Clarkston High School and modernizing a middle school serving the Cross Keys High School community. The full project schedule and allocations will require further district decisions.
