Flavor Rich began with a food truck, two trained hospitality professionals and a belief that comfort food could be both generous and carefully composed.
Eight years later, the Suwanee restaurant founded by Christopher Fletcher and Angelica Finley has earned a place on Yelp’s 2026 list of the Top 100 Places to Eat in the United States. Flavor Rich ranked No. 60 nationally—an unusually prominent distinction for an independent suburban restaurant that opened its dining room during one of the industry’s most difficult periods.
The recognition brings national attention to a story that has been unfolding locally since 2018.
Fletcher and Finley met while working at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta. Both arrived with culinary training, hotel experience and ambitions beyond working in someone else’s kitchen. Fletcher studied food science and business management at the Art Institute of Atlanta and held leadership roles at the Ritz-Carlton and Hyatt Regency. Finley earned a food science and business management degree from Florida A&M University, trained at Le Cordon Bleu and spent six years working for Marriott.
Their shared direction became Flavor Rich Food Truck, launched in April 2018.
A food truck offered a practical starting point. It allowed the partners to test dishes, learn the rhythm of mobile food service and build a following through festivals, catering jobs and workplace lunches. It also gave customers an early introduction to a menu that aimed for more than the customary burger-and-fries formula.
From the beginning, the idea was chef-driven Southern comfort food with a polished edge. Familiar dishes arrived with hotel-kitchen technique, stronger presentation and unexpected details. That approach remains visible in the restaurant’s current menu, where chicken and waffles appear alongside truffle steak and eggs, blackened redfish and lobster-topped grits.

The truck’s success created demand for a permanent home. In the summer of 2020, Fletcher and Finley opened their first brick-and-mortar restaurant on Buford Highway in Suwanee.
The timing could hardly have been more difficult. Restaurants were navigating pandemic restrictions, uncertain staffing and customers still deciding when—or whether—to return to dining rooms. Flavor Rich was attempting the already risky transition from a mobile kitchen to a permanent restaurant just as the hospitality industry was being reordered.
What helped was the audience the food truck had already created. Customers who had followed it between events now knew where to find the kitchen every week. Neighborhood recommendations helped the restaurant establish itself beyond the truck’s original circuit.
Flavor Rich also arrived as brunch was becoming less of a Sunday ritual and more of a dining category of its own. Yet the restaurant’s identity does not rest on decorative cocktails or social-media spectacle. Its menu is built around the idea that brunch can carry the substance and culinary detail of dinner.
Shrimp and grits, for example, combines blackened colossal shrimp, andouille sausage, spinach, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes over creamy grits, finished with lobster cream sauce. The fish and grits replaces shrimp with blackened salmon, fried crawfish and the same rich seafood sauce.
The fried chicken biscuit is topped with Cajun lump-crab sauce rather than served as a plain breakfast sandwich. Banana Foster French toast brings together caramelized bananas, vanilla-bean rum sauce, strawberries and brown-sugar butter. A Georgia peach version is crowned with fresh-made peach cobbler.

Even the more recognizable chicken and waffles receives a deliberate treatment: hand-breaded boneless chicken over a vanilla-bean waffle with brown-sugar butter. Elsewhere, the menu moves into fried lobster tails, wagyu breakfast burgers, crawfish rice and collard greens prepared with smoked turkey.
The range explains the restaurant’s name. “Flavor Rich” is not presented as understatement. It is a promise that breakfast and brunch will arrive seasoned, layered and substantial.
The restaurant has also retained the flexibility of its mobile beginnings. The food truck remains available for events, while the company offers catering for weddings, office gatherings and private celebrations. What began as the entire business has become one part of a broader operation.
In 2024, Flavor Rich expanded with a second location in Midtown Atlanta. But the original Suwanee restaurant remains the place where the transition from truck to dining room took hold—and where a national audience is now being directed.
Flavor Rich sits on a busy stretch of Buford Highway rather than inside a carefully branded dining district. Its story is not one of a restaurant group importing a polished concept into the suburbs. It is the reverse: two hospitality professionals started with a truck, earned local support, opened in Suwanee and built outward from there.
The restaurant currently serves breakfast, brunch and lunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is closed Mondays.
