Gwinnett Tech Opens Its Doors to Career Changers Ahead of Spring Enrollment
Gwinnett Technical College invites prospective students to a free preview night to learn about training programs and financial aid before key spring enrollment deadlines.

Major local stories and useful updates, once a week.
North Atlanta residents considering a career change can explore training programs and discuss financial aid at Gwinnett Technical College’s free preview night on Tuesday, Sept. 29, before several important spring enrollment deadlines arrive in October.
The Preview Night Experience runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrenceville campus, 5150 Sugarloaf Parkway. Prospective students can meet instructors, explore campus and speak with admissions, advising and financial-aid staff. The event welcomes adults returning to school as well as high school students.
For North Fulton residents, attending the event in Lawrenceville does not necessarily mean studying there. Gwinnett Tech’s Alpharetta-North Fulton programs include computer programming, cybersecurity, nursing, welding, business management and hospitality. The campus at 2875 Old Milton Parkway also offers certificates in medical billing, medical front-office work, logistics and cloud computing.
The financial question is worth addressing before choosing a program. Eligible Georgia residents pursuing certain certificates or diplomas can receive tuition assistance through the HOPE Career Grant. Students must also qualify for and receive the HOPE Grant or Zell Miller Grant.
Qualifying programs include selected credentials in computer programming, cybersecurity, medical-office work, welding and other fields. The tuition-free opportunity is not a blanket benefit for every degree or student. Applicants should ask for an individual aid assessment and a breakdown of remaining expenses, including fees, books and supplies.
The spring 2027 calendar sets Oct. 15 as the priority FAFSA filing deadline and Oct. 22 as the admissions application deadline for priority registration. Supporting admissions and financial-aid documents have an Oct. 29 priority deadline. Full-term spring classes begin Jan. 11.
For working adults, cost is only part of the calculation. Class times, required clinical or laboratory hours and the campus offering each course can determine whether retraining fits around an existing job. Preview night provides an opportunity to resolve those questions before committing.
GED, HiSET and English-language instruction representatives will also attend. This is an education event, not a hiring fair or a promise of employment.
Attendance is free, and registration is encouraged. Registered guests receive a complimentary meal from an on-site food truck.
