Read Four Books, Get Two Stripers Tickets: School Sign-Ups Open for 2027

Gwinnett elementary students can earn two free Stripers tickets by reading four books. Schools can now register for the 2027 program, which begins Jan. 11.

Four books can earn a Gwinnett elementary student a trip to the ballpark next spring. School registration opened Monday, Nov. 2, for the Gwinnett Stripers’ 2027 Hooked on Books reading program, which rewards each child who finishes the reading goal with two free tickets to a designated game.

The free program begins Jan. 11, with completed reading materials due May 21. Georgia Power is sponsoring the tickets, and teachers and staff at participating schools are also eligible for free admission.

More than 30,000 students participated in the program’s first year in 2026, the Stripers said. The team is again working through schools, giving teachers materials to help children track their reading as they work toward the four-book goal.

Schools have two ways to take part. They can arrange an on-campus kickoff with Chopper, the Stripers’ groundhog mascot, or use a team-provided video to introduce the program. Both options include materials for recording students’ progress.

Chopper’s school visits are available between Jan. 11 and March 12. The on-campus option is offered to schools within 15 miles of Gwinnett Field, subject to availability. Schools farther away should check with the team about an appearance fee; a mascot visit is not guaranteed by registration.

For families, the first step is to ask whether their child’s school plans to participate. Schools can find the registration form and program details on the Stripers’ Hooked on Books page, or call 678-277-0300 with questions. The reward is for a designated 2027 game, rather than a choice of any game on the schedule.

The Stripers’ home opener is March 30 against Norfolk. The reading deadline falls later in the season, on May 21, giving participating students several months to finish their books and submit their materials.
