Charlotte Welcomes Two Financial Services Offices as Hiring Expands

Daimler Truck Financial Services and Capital Group have opened new Charlotte offices, together planning nearly 950 employees. The moves signal growth in the city’s financial sector, with local hiring and relocations driving expansion.

Two financial services companies celebrated new Charlotte offices Sept. 29, adding a North American headquarters in Ballantyne and an East Coast operations hub in Uptown.

Daimler Truck Financial Services and Capital Group held ribbon cuttings attended by North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein. Together, the two operations could eventually account for roughly 950 employees in Charlotte, although the totals include relocations as well as new local hiring.

More than 300 already working at Daimler headquarters

Daimler Truck Financial Services’ North American headquarters brings administrative, human resources and financial operations from Michigan and Texas into a 60,000-square-foot Charlotte office in Ballantyne.

The original project commitment called for 276 positions tied to state incentives, but hiring has moved beyond that projection. Daimler Truck Financial Services now expects approximately 350 employees to be based at the headquarters, with more than 300 already working from the site, the company told North Atlanta Star.

About 40% of the headquarters workforce relocated from existing Daimler Truck Financial Services locations, while roughly 60% are local hires and new positions in the Charlotte region.

The company continues to hire for remaining positions, including financial-services roles such as dealer credit analysis. Current openings can be found through Daimler Truck Financial Services’ Charlotte job listings.

Daimler selected Charlotte for its financial-services talent pool, growing business community, quality of life and access to major transportation networks. Bringing the teams together is also intended to improve collaboration and speed decision-making across the company’s financing, leasing and insurance operations.

The state tied the original project to nearly $8 million in investment and 276 jobs in Mecklenburg County. The company provides financing and leasing for commercial vehicles, serving customers ranging from individual truck owners to fleets and municipalities.

Capital Group opens Uptown hub

Capital Group’s new East Coast operations hub occupies space at One Independence Center. The investment firm leased eight floors, with about 95 associates accepting relocation from Virginia, the Charlotte Business Journal reported.

The project is expected to create 600 jobs and involves at least $60 million in capital investment, according to the City of Charlotte.

Capital Group has described Charlotte as a counterpart to its West Coast operations hub in Irvine, California. Its location strategy calls for the Charlotte office to accommodate 500 to 700 associates over time.
