For years, Chick-fil-A has been the local fast-food brand that seemed almost impossible to beat. It was born in metro Atlanta, remains headquartered here, and is woven into suburban routine from school pickups to soccer practice to the double-lane drive-thru line that somehow still moves faster than it should.
Now, one national customer satisfaction ranking has moved the crown by a single point.
The 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index quick-service restaurant ranking puts Jersey Mike’s at 84 out of 100, just ahead of Chick-fil-A at 83. That does not mean Chick-fil-A suddenly lost the love of its customers. The Atlanta-based company still ranks near the very top and remains the clear leader among chicken chains. Anyone who has passed a Chick-fil-A in Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Cumming or Suwanee at lunchtime already knows the brand is not exactly suffering.
But the shift is still interesting here because the new No. 1 is not a distant name on a national list. Jersey Mike’s has become part of the same suburban lunch map.
From the Jersey Shore to the North Atlanta Strip Center
Jersey Mike’s started in 1956 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, long before “fast casual” became a restaurant category. Its identity is still built around a simple promise: sliced meats and cheeses, bread baked in the store, and sandwiches dressed “Mike’s Way” with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar and spices.
That formula travels well in North Atlanta because lunch here is often about motion. Jersey Mike’s is selling a clean, familiar, built-in-front-of-you sandwich that can be ordered ahead and picked up quickly.
Around our area, the chain is no longer hard to find. Johns Creek has locations on State Bridge Road and Holcomb Bridge Road. Nearby stores include Alpharetta, Cumming, Suwanee, Duluth, Peachtree Corners, Sugar Hill, Buford and Roswell. Most operate daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., placing them squarely in the lunch, after-school and weeknight takeout lane.
Why This One-Point Win Says Something
The funny part is that Jersey Mike’s and Chick-fil-A are not really the same kind of restaurant.
Chick-fil-A handles enormous volume. In North Atlanta, some locations feel less like restaurants and more like small transportation systems. The brand’s strength is consistency under pressure: the line, the app, the employee outside with the tablet.
Jersey Mike’s wins in a different rhythm. The menu is narrower. The product is easy to understand. The food is assembled in view of the customer. And with the score at 84 to 83, maybe the better takeaway is not that one chain has defeated the other. It is that two very different versions of convenience now define the suburban lunch hour: Chick-fil-A for the crispy chicken sandwich; Jersey Mike’s for the sliced-to-order sandwich that feels a step closer to a deli.
