Trader Joe’s is officially opening its first Johns Creek store on Thursday, June 11, bringing one of metro Atlanta’s most requested grocery chains to the Medley development at Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road.
The new store is located at 1000 Medley Blvd. and will open at 9 a.m. Grand opening visitors will be welcomed by Store Captain Susan Jasko and the local Trader Joe’s crew. Regular hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
The 9,240-square-foot store becomes Trader Joe’s 11th location in Georgia and marks a major retail arrival for Johns Creek, where residents have long relied on nearby stores in places such as Roswell, Sandy Springs and Buckhead.
Trader Joe’s said the Johns Creek store hired more than 30 new crew members from surrounding communities and brought in additional experienced employees from nearby locations.
The opening also gives Medley one of its most recognizable anchors. The 43-acre mixed-use development is being built as a walkable district with restaurants, retail, office space and public gathering areas. Other announced tenants include Shake Shack and Sephora.
For Johns Creek, the arrival is about more than groceries. Medley sits along one of the city’s most important growth corridors, near McGinnis Ferry Road and Johns Creek Parkway, where new development is expected to shape how residents shop, eat and gather in the years ahead.
Trader Joe’s has built a national following through private-label groceries, seasonal items and a value-focused shopping model. The company says it keeps prices lower by buying directly from suppliers and purchasing in larger volumes, an approach that has helped the chain remain popular as families continue to watch food costs.
The Johns Creek opening is part of a broader Georgia expansion. Trader Joe’s has also announced plans for future stores in Decatur and near Augusta, though addresses for those locations have not yet been released.
For now, the newest Georgia location belongs to Johns Creek.
Getting There
Drivers can approach 1000 Medley Blvd from either McGinnis Ferry Road or Johns Creek Parkway, then turn into the Medley development and follow Medley Boulevard toward the retail area. For many shoppers coming from Suwanee, South Forsyth or the McGinnis Ferry corridor, McGinnis Ferry will be the simplest approach. Readers coming from central Johns Creek, Medlock Bridge Road or the City Hall area will likely use Johns Creek Parkway.
