Forsyth County Community Leader Announces Candidacy for Georgia State House

CUMMING, GA — Longtime Forsyth County resident, business executive, pastor, and community leader Mathew Philip announced today that he is running for the Georgia State House (District 25), pledging to bring practical leadership and a focus on people over politics to the State Capitol.

Mathew Philip has lived in the Cumming area for the past 14 years and has spent more than three decades working in the corporate sector. During his career, he served in senior management roles where he led teams, managed budgets, and focused on strategic planning, operational excellence, and fiscal responsibility. He holds an MBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.

In addition to his professional experience, Mathew Philip has been deeply involved in the Forsyth County community. He has served as a homeowners association board member and president for HOAs in the area, working with neighbors to address community needs, manage shared resources responsibly, and promote strong local leadership.

He also serves as the pastor of a multicultural church in Cumming, where he works closely with families from many different backgrounds who share the same hopes for safe communities, strong schools, and opportunity for their children.

“My heart has always been for the people of this community,” said Mathew Philip. “Leadership is about listening, serving, and working together to solve problems that affect everyday families.”

Mathew Philip said one of the major concerns he hears from residents is the increasing cost of living and the challenge of finding affordable housing.

“Families across our community are feeling the pressure of rising costs,” he said. “When people are struggling with everyday expenses and housing affordability, it is time for leaders to step forward and focus on solutions.”

His campaign will focus on advocating for responsible leadership, supporting policies that strengthen communities, and ensuring equitable access to state services so that every resident has the opportunity to succeed.

“My parents taught me from childhood that being a responsible citizen means caring for others and giving back to the community,” he said. “Ultimately, what we do for others is what truly matters.”

“Forsyth County deserves leadership that values service, accountability, and opportunity,” he said. “I am running to ensure every voice is heard, including those who often feel overlooked.”
