South Forsyth Roads and Development Take Center Stage at Forsyth County Meeting

Forsyth County commissioners have a full slate of transportation, development and county business before them Thursday, with road spending and work tied to the busy Ga. 400 corridor among the items carrying the most direct impact for local residents.

One item involves approximately $1.34 million connected to utility work for the Ga. 369 and Ga. 400 interchange project, a major transportation investment on the northern side of the county. The interchange has reshaped travel at what was once a signalized crossing, while the broader Ga. 369 project has included widening and other improvements along the corridor.

The board’s agenda also includes proposed spending for asphalt work, adding another transportation item to a meeting that arrives as Forsyth County continues to manage road demands created by years of residential and commercial growth.

Development questions remain part of the evening as well, with zoning and land-use matters scheduled for consideration. For residents in South Forsyth, where growth along Ga. 400 and connecting east-west roads continues to change daily travel patterns, the decisions provide another look at how county infrastructure is attempting to keep pace with development.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Forsyth County Administration Building in Cumming.
