5 Coffee Trucks and Mobile Cafés Worth Finding Around North Atlanta

North Atlanta’s coffee scene is increasingly showing up on four wheels.

At farmers markets, neighborhood gatherings, schools, offices and weekend events, mobile coffee businesses are turning parking lots into temporary cafés. Some operate full-size trucks, others use trailers, vans or compact espresso carts, and several are based right here in the northern suburbs.

Here are five worth knowing. This is not a ranking by taste; schedules for mobile businesses change frequently, so check with the operator before making a special trip.

Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee

Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee of Alpharetta operates in the Alpharetta-Cumming area, while related Travelin’ Tom’s trucks serve Suwanee, Canton and other parts of metro Atlanta.

The brightly colored trucks are difficult to miss. The menu stretches well beyond ordinary drip coffee, with lattes, cappuccinos, mochas and frozen frappes, along with drinks such as lemonade, chai, hot chocolate and tea. The Canton operation describes itself as a locally owned, family-run mobile café serving Cherokee County, East Cobb and Sandy Springs.

North Atlanta Star recently spotted one of the unmistakable turquoise Travelin’ Tom’s trucks in the region, photographed above.

For residents farther east, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee of Suwanee brings the same mobile café concept to Suwanee, Duluth and surrounding communities.

Chill Latte

Chill Latte is based in Roswell and has grown the mobile-coffee idea into a fleet that includes a large coffee truck and trailers.

Rather than simply putting urns of coffee on a catering table, Chill Latte brings an espresso-bar experience directly to events. Its Roswell location also makes it especially relevant for Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek and nearby communities.

Bean in the Borough

Bean in the Borough is based in Cumming and takes a slightly different approach: its mobile coffee operation includes an espresso trike and carts instead of relying solely on a traditional food truck.

The company uses a locally roasted house blend produced by Rev Coffee Roasters in Smyrna and offers espresso drinks along with cold brew, tea, chai and hot chocolate.

For weddings, neighborhood gatherings and smaller events, the compact setup can go places where a full-size truck cannot.

Bro Coffee

Bro Coffee – Hall Hub operates from Flowery Branch and serves North Georgia and the Atlanta metro with a decidedly modern coffee truck.

Founded by Pavlo Abramchuk and Yevhen Rusan, Bro Coffee serves espresso, americanos, lattes and cappuccinos, but its menu also wanders into frappes, matcha, smoothies and fruit-forward drinks.

For people around Buford, Sugar Hill and the Lake Lanier corridor, it is one of the more convenient mobile coffee operations to watch for.

The Brash Beast

One of North Atlanta’s most unusual coffee vehicles does not roam very far these days.

The Brash Beast is a custom 1968 Citroën van built into a functioning coffee bar for Brash Coffee Roasters. It is currently stationed at Halcyon in Alpharetta. The tiny vintage vehicle contains a commercial espresso machine, refrigeration and the equipment needed to function as a miniature café.

It sits somewhere between coffee truck and permanent coffee shop, but visually, it may be the most distinctive coffee van in the northern suburbs.

And Then There Are the Coffee Carts

The category is getting broader than trucks alone.

Valor Coffee Catering serves much of North Georgia, including Alpharetta, Roswell and Cumming, using mobile espresso carts. Valor says its carts serve café staples including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, tea and matcha.

Other metro operators such as Frothy, Sightline Coffee and Aviator Coffee also bring staffed espresso bars to North Atlanta events. Frothy specifically lists Roswell, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Woodstock and the Lake Lanier area among the places it regularly serves.

The distinction may ultimately matter less than the trend: North Atlanta no longer needs a storefront for a serious cup of coffee. A good espresso machine, a small vehicle and a parking space can create a café almost anywhere.

And unlike a neighborhood coffee shop, tomorrow morning it may be somewhere completely different.
