Amasa Mexican Kitchen Nears Opening in Downtown Alpharetta

Downtown Alpharetta’s restaurant scene is preparing for another notable arrival as Amasa Mexican Kitchen moves closer to opening at Alpharetta City Center later this summer.

The new restaurant is being developed as a sister concept to Chichería Mexican Kitchen at The Works in Atlanta. Amasa will focus on the coastal cooking of Baja California, placing seafood, fresh produce and open-flame preparation at the center of its menu.

Rather than following the familiar combination-plate format of many suburban Mexican restaurants, Amasa is positioning itself as a more specialized dining destination. Plans call for ceviches, seafood-driven dishes, house-made salsas and tortillas prepared from blue corn. The entire food menu is expected to be gluten-free.

The beverage program will extend beyond standard margaritas, with an emphasis on tequila and cocktails designed to complement the restaurant’s coastal Mexican flavors. Weekend brunch, live entertainment and interactive dining events are also part of the concept.

Amasa recently offered Alpharetta diners an early preview through three pop-up dinners at The Standard on South Main Street. The July 13, July 20 and July 27 events sold out, providing the restaurant with an opportunity to introduce its food before the permanent dining room opens.

The arrival comes as downtown Alpharetta continues to broaden its restaurant mix. Recent additions have included a French café, Eastern Mediterranean dining and new Italian concepts, strengthening the district’s position as one of North Fulton’s most active dining destinations.

Amasa’s seafood-forward approach may help it stand apart in an increasingly competitive market. While Mexican restaurants are plentiful across North Atlanta, comparatively few concentrate on Baja California cuisine or offer a completely gluten-free menu.

An exact opening date has not yet been announced. The restaurant continues to describe its debut as planned for summer 2026 at Alpharetta City Center.
