Families considering DeKalb’s school-boundary options have until November 10 to submit survey feedback, with a public-comment session next week for the Chamblee, Dunwoody and Cross Keys clusters.
Saturday, October 31, 2026. Reporting checked at noon Eastern.
School-boundary proposals remain open for comment
No attendance-zone changes have been finalized. Families can compare proposed assignments by address through the district’s school-options locator. The November 5 comment session runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunwoody High School. Read the school-boundary item in our morning news briefing.
Peachtree Corners keeps casual ball play
Town Green permits casual ball games outside city-sponsored events, provided they do not endanger or interfere with other visitors. Organized team practices remain prohibited. During city concerts and festivals, ball play and wheeled recreational equipment are prohibited in the event area.
Small bicycles with wheels no larger than 12 inches are allowed outside those events; e-bikes and e-scooters are always prohibited. Our Town Green story explains the distinctions in the city’s clarification.
Prax Cafe targets November in Alpharetta
Saba Heydari and Sam Ramis plan to open Prax Cafe at 4390 Kimball Bridge Road, Suite A, with coffee, desserts and Persian influences. The husband-and-wife team envisions a small neighborhood gathering place with about 20 to 30 seats.
November is the target, but an exact opening date and hours have not been announced. Read our Prax Cafe story for the owners’ plans and the location at Kimball Commons.
Northside Forsyth prepares nursing interviews
Northside Hospital Forsyth will hold medical and surgical nursing interviews November 11, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the Bennett Conference Room at 1400 Northside Forsyth Drive, Suite 180, in Cumming. Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, RN residents and nurse leaders are included, with on-site offers planned.
Our hiring story covers the recruitment and residency options. The hospital’s event page links to registration. An interview is not a guarantee of an offer.
A closer look: what a yurt changes
Our new Cloudland Canyon lodging guide compares the practical differences between a yurt and a cottage. A yurt provides shelter and furniture, but guests bring bedding, use a nearby bathhouse and cook outside. A cottage offers a more conventional indoor setup; check the kitchen, sleeping arrangements and amenities of the specific unit.
As of noon October 31, the state park’s entrance alert still calls for daytime flaggers and one-lane traffic. The temporary visitor center is at the Group Lodge. Check the park’s latest instructions before leaving, and compare actual availability for your dates rather than assuming an overnight space is open.
Tonight and tomorrow morning
Halloween is tonight. Early Sunday, November 1, clocks turn back from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. Check appliances and vehicle clocks that do not adjust automatically, especially if you have an early appointment. Our Halloween and clock-change guide has the weekend reminders.
