A new sports bar is expected to open at Cumming City Center in the coming weeks, bringing Cajun-inspired food, large-screen game viewing and a more traditional bar-and-grill atmosphere to the development.
Tavern Off the Green is currently preparing to open at 400 Vision Drive.
The concept is built around game-day gatherings. The restaurant has promoted more than 40 televisions, along with a large central screen intended to make the main game visible from throughout the dining and bar areas. That could give Cumming City Center a dedicated destination for college football, NFL Sundays and major sporting events.
The menu is expected to combine Cajun-style dishes with familiar tavern food. Early descriptions mention burgers, seafood and handcrafted comfort dishes, suggesting a menu designed to serve both sports-bar regulars and families looking for a casual dinner. Drinks, happy hour and group gatherings are also part of the concept.
The restaurant’s arrival will add another evening option to Cumming City Center, which has continued to build its identity around restaurants, entertainment, green space and outdoor events.
An exact opening date has not yet been announced. The restaurant is already accepting job applications through its website. Residents who want the first confirmed opening information can follow the restaurant’s social-media pages or contact the business directly at Tavernoffthegreenga@gmail.com.
The opening is expected just before the fall sports calendar fully gets underway. Georgia high school football’s first official games are scheduled for Aug. 21, college football begins Aug. 29 and NFL kickoff weekend follows in early September.
