A Grocery Robot Is Now Roaming This Peachtree Parkway Kroger

Shoppers at Kroger on Peachtree Parkway can now see Tally, a robot that scans shelves to detect stock issues and pricing errors. The robot helps the store keep popular items available while letting employees assist customers more.

Shoppers at the Kroger on Peachtree Parkway may notice an unusual new employee quietly making its way through the aisles.

The tall, autonomous robot, called Tally, scans shelves to identify out-of-stock products, pricing discrepancies and misplaced items. Instead of stocking shelves itself, it collects real-time inventory data so store associates can address problems more quickly.

Kroger has been testing Tally robots at stores in several markets as part of a broader effort to improve inventory accuracy and keep popular items on shelves. Company officials say the technology is intended to free employees from time-consuming shelf audits so they can spend more time assisting customers.
